With some of the first owners now settling into our West Acre Park development, we are delighted that more than 80% of reservations so far are from current Island residents - 45% from Ryde alone.
Our West Acre Park development really is built by local people for local people. More than 50% of our sales have been to first time buyers with a real need, and with the use of new build schemes we have been able to sell homes to local people at prices as low as £105,000.
With one, two, three and four-bedroom houses on the first phase and an overall average price currently just below £250,000 – the same as the average sold price on the Isle of Wight last year – there really is something for everyone.

LOCAL KEY WORKERS MAKE UP FIRST OWNERS AT WEST ACRE PARK
Ryde firefighter Mark Augustus and his wife Charlene took advantage of our scheme to help key frontline workers and were able to reserve their home for just £99.
Islander Mark said: “It was the style of the homes that first attracted us to the development. Then we were surprised by the amount of space you get – the homes aren’t all crammed in on top of each other. “We chose the Newbridge style house because we liked the open plan kitchen and living space which meant the whole family could be in the same room while we prepared meals. The fact it had a garage with the space to create a room above was a big bonus for us. It also comes with a good-sized garden for the kids to play in. We really do like everything about our new home. It feels spacious but cosy and the finish is to a high standard. It’s going to be a great place for our two boys to grow up. It’s particularly nice to move in and have nothing to do to the house.” Mark is a born and bred Islander with his council worker wife Charlene moving here as a child. They lived round the corner from West Acre in High Park Road.
First-time buyers Jason Clabon, his wife Shelley, and their young son, Freddie, moved into their three-bed Shorwell home from rented accommodation in Ryde.The Island family were able to take advantage of our scheme to help key frontline workers as Jason is a retained firefighter and team leader at a local manufacturing company, and Shelley is deputy manager of a children’s nursery. Shelley said: “The West Acre houses looked beautiful and we have loved the blank canvas of a new build. These had larger gardens than typical new builds, which was a big plus for us. “We chose the Shorwell home because we wanted three bedrooms, and this was just in our price range. It has a lovely sized kitchen and three separate bathrooms. “It is so homely and welcoming. We love the size of it and our little boy loves the garden. We also love that we are set back from the main roads but still close enough to shops and other places. “It feels great to be in. We are getting to meet new neighbours and are looking forward to seeing the development grow as more stages are completed. It looks like it will be a lovely area to be a part of.”
